Description:
Gezellig is a Dutch word which loosely translates as cosy, comfortable or homely, but it is much more than that. It is a sense of order and pleasure in the domestic environment that is curated, almost like an art gallery.
The Gezellig Warehouse is a home renovation with a difference. Passive House principles have been applied, leading to a low energy home that is supremely comfortable without showing off its sustainable credentials. The house achieves a 7 star rating.
The lighting was designed to mesh with the sustainable aspects of the home, with simple solutions providing elegant and functional light where needed, along with flexibility and fun where appropriate.
Simple and effective lighting solutions were selected. The Running Magnet system from Flos is used downstairs to allow continuous adjustments to be made, allowing spaces to be used differently as needed.
A neon sign provides all the light needed in the stairwell as well as a splash of colour in an otherwise pragmatic part of the house. Most lamps are LED for efficiency and long life, with a smattering of halogen for better colour performance and superior dimmability.
