By Torque Show and Michelle Ryan with Lavender vs Rose.
Intimacy is a dance-theatre piece created by Michelle Ryan, Ingrid Weisfelt, Ross Ganf and Vince Crowley. Our lighting design responded to the traverse seating arrangement, the content of the show and the set design by Adrienne Chisholm, creating a space that worked for the dance performance, music integrated into the show (by the duo Lavender vs Rose) and text based theatre elements.
We were fortunate to get access to the new Philips Selecon PL Profile 1 fixtures which are RGB plus W LED profiles with a very clean output, capable of a wide gamut of colours and very clean gobo projection and shutter cuts. We used them as dance booms, allowing a wide range of colours to be projected from the one location without gel changes. Thanks are due to Philips Selecon for their support of the production.
Intimacy toured to London in September 2104, playing as part of the Unlimited Festival in Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank Centre. The traverse seating arrangement was set up on the stage of the QEH.
